Deniz Ozturk, VPUA Candidate
"My platform is based upon not only students' wants and needs, but also student advocacy. "Be the Change" refers to realizing the voice and influence you have as a university student - and embracing it to the fullest. Not only do I want to hear students' concerns, but also engage people in thinking "what is the remedy?". Many of us are aware of the problems and no one has all the answers, but together, we can find the appropriate prescriptions. The VPUA position deals with both internal and external bodies. The focus of the VPUA must be weighed between issues that apply to all university students as a whole, while not underestimating those concerns that are unique to Brock students. I seek to find the balance between the two. Professional and sensible. Cooperative, but determined."
Luke Speers, VPUA Candidate
The VPUA is the student?s representative to the government and the
university.
I am the right candidate for VPUA because of my extensive experience within BUSU, and with the political process. At BUSU I am on the Board of Directors, the Vice-Chairman of the Finance Committee, the Chairman of the Nominations Committee, a member of the Elections Committee, a Foot Patrol, Frosh week and Frost week volunteer, and the BUSAC representative for Off Campus Undergraduate students. I have worked for both Brock and the government as well as been part of municipal, provincial and federal election campaigns as well as working for Elections Ontario and Elections Canada. I believe these experiences as well my double major of Philosophy and Political Science makes me the best candidate for the job.
Thanks and have a great semester

Jason Freeze, Board of Directors Candidate
Hello, my name is Jason Freeze. This year I will be running for one of the Director of the Board positions. I am a 4th year Business, Operations major and I currently sit on BUSAC as a Business Councillor. I have been trying to make a difference on campus by sitting on the Environmental Committee and as VP of Environmental Justice with the new club IMSEEJ. This year I will continue to strive to make a difference on campus by promoting the new Green levy and other Green initiatives, fighting student apathy through information, and making our services work for you. For more information, please feel free to check out my Facebook fan page or add me on Twitter. Let’s make a difference!
Fee Replacement Referendum
The Fee Replacement referendum is all about taking existing fees you pay for buildings, capital and renovations, and turning them into $5.00 of fees we can use in a much smarter way, to benefit you, the student.
We can improve and properly fund our clubs, with club funding increasing by 500%, and dedicated club software and training. We can become more environmentally friendly, reduce waste and fund sustainable groups and practices. We can allow BUSU to provide more services such as legal aid, a crisis help line, and tax clinics, bigger events, and provide better volunteer recognition.
And we can do all of this, for the same amount you pay this year. Smarter fees. Better BUSU. Visit www.smartfees.ca or contact Rob Lanteigne at

Student Justice Center Referendum
We are students supporting social justice at Brock University. We are advocating for a ‘safer’ space on campus, one where inclusivity is practiced. A social justice center at Brock would serve as a centre to educate and advocate for student who deal with a lack of societal acceptance as a result from sexism, racism, homophobia and other forms of prejudice. Our goal is to create a safe space on campus, a Social Justice Centre that is a student funded, BUSU operated, volunteer driven, non profit campus organisation.
